This is one for the crate-diggers and sample fiends…
Two DJs from Switzerland, Ilarius from Biel and Pesa from Berne have produced this gem of a compilation, alternating between the famous hip-hop track and the original source of the sample used, all mixed and blended nicely. On the intro and outro as well as on two joints in between, the two lay out their own beats for some of Switzerland’s finest MCs to spit a quick one, just to keep it fresshhhh.
Those are Black Tiger (Basel) on the intro and outro, Shape (Lucerne) on another one, and Taz (Basel) together with Greis (Berne), while the whole thing is hosted by none other than Germany’s old schooler Torch (Heidelberg) of Advanced Chemistry fame.
There is no detailed tracklisting, maybe also cos it would spoil the fun of “discovering” the samples we all know and love. On the other hand, they don’t reveal the names of the sources either, as no self-respecting digger would. And this comp is really meant to be listened to like a mixtape, i.e. from beginning to end.
Some of the people you’ll find on here:
Dilated Peoples, Ed O.G. & Da Bulldogs, KRS-One, Big L, Jay-Z, O.C., MOP, Jazzy Jeff, Lootpack, Pharoahe Monch, Common, Talib Kweli, Royce 5′9″, Nas, Masta Ace, Defari, Rakim, Non Phixion, Alchemist, IAM, Spax, and still more…
A great listen! (re-upped)

Hey AVE,
Glad you like the mix. Actually, I used to own vol. 1, and then I gave it to a friend of mine who apparently lost it. It was a tape-only release, so ripping it would be quite a drag anyway.
The shop I originally got it from doesn’t carry it anymore, and apparently, the tape’s sold out.
